BOOK BLOGGER LOVE-A-THON 2016 MINI CHALLENGE: MIX AND MATCH

Hi there! I hope you guys are enjoying the Love-A-Thon posts! Go to Twitter and use the hashtag #LoveAThon to check out the posts and other things going on. You can also refer to Stay Bookish's kick-off post for the list of participating bloggers for the event.Anyway, there's a mini-challenge that is happening right now and it is the first one. So here's the brief:

--We all love books, but there are other things we’re passionate about too! Mash-up a non-bookish hobby/passion/talent/fandom with your bookish life. Do it through photos, art, videos, etc. Get as creative as you’d like!

I'm gonna be posting some photos of my certain hobbies and passions that I kinda mashed up with some books. Please excuse the low quality as I only got to use my iPhone 4S's front cam and couldn't use my DSLR camera coz my card reader and connector's missing and I can't upload any photos with it. *cries* Also, you will be witnessing photos with my face in it, so again, bear with it all. Thank you <3

Writing Woes

Hi there Misfit booknerds! How have you been liking my active blogging? I like it too actually...though I believe I'll actually end up being the total bum that I am after a few weeks. Again, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.

So, I was on Twitter (as usual) and I started thinking about not having any blogger friends from Singapore. I immediately got a response and was suggested Topaz Winters, a writer on her blog "Six Impossible Things." Since stalking is my thing, I went on to read her vast amount of poetry and other entries and somehow felt a sudden pang in my chest.

Writing has been an essential part of who I am, and not actually writing feels like my leg has been pulled out of me and I have been left blind for life. It's excruciating, most especially if you want to put words on paper but it's as if your body doesn't want to allow you.

Writers Central: Ahead (A Short Story)

Ahead

It’s hard to stare in the mirror without thinking that today is the day that I would have to say goodbye.  My eyes still have the remnants of last night’s tears. I leave out a sigh and plastered on some makeup. Today, I would have to say goodbye to people who’ve mattered and maybe even spare a glance to that one bully I had in 3rd grade... That is if I see him.

I head down the stairs, putting on my joker’s mask, greeting everyone a sweet good morning. It would seem like my parents were wearing the same mask as I did. Mom was fixing up a batch of potato hash, Dad kept staring at the same page of the newspaper, while I sipped at the sweet, creamy coffee. This will be my last cup.

My NaNoWriMo2k14 Experience

When I found out that November was National Reading Month and National Writing Month, I felt like November really is my month (coz birthday too). When I went to the NaNoWriMo website, my mind suddenly raced of thoughts of what I wanted to write, what themes I was going to pursue and what I wanted to achieve afterwards.

I thought that 20 days was going to cut it, I mean 50k words in 20 days might be possible if I polish up with my typing skills and vocab. But I think I overestimated my thought process and also my inherent laziness because I've only written 5000 words to date. That's right. 5000! I didn't exactly know what I was gonna go up against with my head drifting to different things for the past 2 weeks of my semestral break. In fact, I even wrote another story consisting of 5000 words in 2 hours, but not the novel I really had on the first place.

It seemed that my overly active imagination went into a shut down for those past couple of days and then I realized that I'm not really good with rushing myself with stories or maybe I'm just a short story type of girl. There was even a moment when I doubted myself that I wouldn't be able to finish what I started at all, which is not very unlikely.

But challenges propel you to greater heights in the end, and it's normal to stumble on the way. I don't plan on writing much for the novel unless I find the time since I will be busy with my thesis for almost a year, so, I don't even know if I'll find the time to think up of a scene or a story. However, I do plan to stick to what I started and grow my characters somehow in the process. Maybe in the middle of 2015, I'll be able to do something about it and maybe reach that 50k in November too.

I do think that I'll get the chance to write something more inspiring and novel worthy when I do get to graduate and focus on widening my imagination more and improving my writing skills. Let's hope for the best, I guess.

So how about you booknerds? Did you write anything for NanoWrimo this year? How did you fair up? Did you have to work against unusual circumstances or was it easy for you? Leave comments below and let's talk about it!

Congratulations to the Wrimos who finished 50k words in 20 days! Good luck to the finalists and may some good novels come out of those chosen!

LIFE OF A BLOGGER: Collections

Life Of A Blogger is hosted by Jessi from Novel Heartbeat where we let people know more about our lives outside of blogging so they can get to know us better!

HELLO THERE EVERYONE! My name is Jenivieve and this week, I'll be sharing with you my "COLLECTIONS"

I don't think I really have a decent collection of sorts besides my old collection of receipts which got lost because they were all in my wallet and I lost it. YIKES! What a shame. Anyway, the only collection I can find that's my own are these...

So this is my mock bookshelf. As you may have already known, this is an old study table which I converted into my own bookshelf which contains a collection of old and new books that I have bought, borrowed and received. It is still a small collection compared to others, but I am saving up for some really good titles to add here.

If I Share My Stories

HELLO MISFITS! I have something that I have been worrying to ask about ever since by I don't know how to confront you of it or what, but please tell me, ARE YOU NOT REAL? NAH!!! JUST KIDDING!

What I meant to say was, that I have been, as much as possible, honest with you guys with a few things about me, through my page, THE MISFIT DIARY. And though some of my friends find it incredibly stupid to rant about CHEESE maybe or finding a FUTURE BOYFRIEND to people whom I'm not sure actually read my blog, I just find surrender and release to just type in things on my computer with sadness, hate or happiness. There's contentment to them. And it's the same with writing stories!

I love writing stories ever since I was a kid. Probably around 5 years old when my stories revolved on cats and dogs or why the Gingerbread Man did not allow poor Susie to keep warm at night. Yeah. I was 5. Cut me some slack. But through the years, I was subjected to more interesting concepts and have been writing more complex, hopeful or tragic stories (I think tragic is an understatement..LOL! KIDDING).

And recently, I have tried to find portals where I can share my stories. Yeah, Wattpad is safer, but I feel like my stories would be up against romantic sad-saps or teenagers meeting their prince charmings and they all live happily ever after. No offense to Wattpad writers, yeah. I have read a few stories there that I might say, worth my time. It's just that they aren't as known or understood basically coz we've been fandomized. Again, sorry but not entirely sorry.

And as much as I do condemn romantics, I do write a bit about them but let's say it's more like Looking For Alaska-ish than The City of Bones-ish. Get it?

So, I wanna share them with you! I really do! But then, the thing is. I am scared! I am blunt, I believe so, but with my stories, I just can't seem to get them out to public! I do want to but the idea that it could be plagiarized is scary. I plan to share my stories here in my blog but yeah, copyright issues could happen and I don't want that. But I want to share them really! I'm split by my own self! UGH! So frustrating!

So, it could either work my way or not but it would be so much comforting if you could tweet me about it or leave a comment if I should continue with putting up my stories here on my blog! It will give me such a confidence boost if you can give me words of ENCOURAGEMENT MISFITS! :')

Soon, I'll find a publisher but before that, I need a portal. So. HELP ME?

That's it for this crappy blog post! I'm sorry about this. I just needed to let it all out. I'll hear from you, yes? Thank you MISFITS! <3
