November Playlist: TOP 5

This month of November, I decided to try out making playlists on Spotify and hopefully you listen to some of the song that I chose. Actually, I was going to feature Taylor Swift's 1989 album, but since it's been stripped off from either Youtube and Spotify, I went with some of the songs that I have also been listening to frequently this month!

1. Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde

Again, from last month's playlist, I want to feature it again. This song is the headliner for the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay (Part 1) which will be premiering worldwide in a few days! The song really does speak of Katniss' resolve to fight for the people and go against Snow and The Capitol. This, I think, is one of Lorde's most powerful and endearing lyrics yet because it tells the story as it is and kudos to her music video too for being so wonderfully quirky and dark.

2. Cool Kids by Echosmith

I'm kind of late to the party on this one because the song has been making waves throughout radios and interwebs. And dude, the music video is amazing! Though the lyrics are sort of contradictory to my belief, coz misfit here, I think that the song is kind of telling more of an otherwise story, being that if you are COOL as maybe yourself and you are unique, so you are cool. Yeah, it's kind of ironic really, but I still love the song. And please, the Sierota siblings are an epic, beautiful bunch!

3. Heart Out by The 1975

Have I never told you I love The 1975? Well, I do and I am addicted to their self titled album especially with this song which has been playing on stations and charts. I just love the lyrics in this song, with like a desperate cry to the girl you love yet can't exactly say anything, how raw and subtle it could get but also powerful in some of the rifts. And Matt's voice is just so sexy.

4. Voodoo Doll by 5 Seconds of Summer

You all know I loooove these boys and would practically support them in whatever they do. Anyway, this song is a current favorite, which has been out for sometime now, in their EPs and stuff, but I've only been invested to this song ever since the album came out. The playful lyrics and the cute voices that are somehow dragged into a situation of helplessly falling in love with a girl they don't exactly like. But seriously, I just can't help but laugh to this track.

5. Afire Love by Ed Sheeran

I don't know. I just don't know how Ed Sheeran does it. I mean, not only are the lyrics to this song heartbreaking but will course through your body, making you regret those small things you've never done with people in your life and all they can do is reminisce those moments of the past... This is one of Ed Sheeran's best songs from X and I do not regret playing and playing it again, but at the same time, it does scare me for what may happen in the future.

So tell me, what have you been listening to lately??? Leave comments below and share your playlist with me!

August Playlist: TOP 5

It's been forever since I posted a playlist. I was really planning on a July one, but yeah. Anyway, I have been listening to some fantastic tracks by some amazing artists! Here's my Top 5!

1. I'm Not The Only One by Sam Smith

It's such a beautiful song with such an jazzy tune that I think I've been missing in my rock and roll life. And the lyrics are just enchanting, mixing the doubt of the foundations of a realtionship and the pain of being not someone's one and only . And it's the type of song you'd just sing along to, no matter how sad it may be. I put it on repeat most of the time. Don't. Judge. Me.

2. Chandelier by Sia

I've always been an avid fan of Sia even with just her collaborations with other artists and also I subscribed to her Vevo channel and listening to her other solo acts but Chandelier must be that most recognizable feat in her arsenal right now with strong lyrics and vocals. Sia's voice is filled with power but also sorrow and pain. And also she has this distinct sound that makes me fall for her everytime. The most eerie part of me loving this song is that it's the only song that I have on my head even if I don't have a music player on me. I have an attachment. But yeah, in my depressed state, it's not the most ideal song to listen to.

3. Amnesia by 5 Seconds of Summer

These boys were my June Playlist special with all their songs on loop and with their new self-titled album, all their songs are amazing and Amnesia, which they've been playing in many of their concerts and tours, now has its spot on the album and a music video! HOOOORAH! So proud of these boys!  Yeah, again, not the most appropriate song to listen to a time of depression and sadness but the lyrics are just beautiful! Good job Madden Bros! And the mixture of Calum's subtle vocals with Luke's sad, aggressive voice is just perfect! Again, congrats to #WAMWESIA! LOL. They make me happy!

4. I Love You (But I Hate Your Friends) by Neon Trees

NEON TREES!!!! NEON TREES! Goodness! I missed the heck out of you!!! Picture Show is still on my iTunes, never leaving and it saddened me that they took a hiatus but now they are back with their album, Pop Psychology and this is my favorite track on the album so far  with such witty lyrics and the truth that you cannot push your boyfriend or girlfriend to get along with your family or friends. It's a dark truth but also taken into a funny perspective in this song! An entrancing vocal by lead singer,Tyler Glenn, brings me life!

5. I Wanna Get Better by Bleachers

Retribution song! I love listening to this after a time of senseless crying and just to bring me back to life! Well, this song does make me cry, but the crazy of this song is just perfect! And I love the fact that Jack Antonoff decided to form the band Bleachers with fun. going through a hiatus! And I love him coz fun. and Lena Dunham! OH YEAH! Lyrics! LISTEN WELL! UPLIFT YOURSELF!

So yeah, I have a weird August playlist with both sad and happy songs, but it's pretty normal,  I guess. Anyway, share your thoughts on the playlist or listen to any of them or if you want to recommend any songs to me!

Thanks Misfit Booknerds!

Tunes Pod June Special: 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER

I have been into this one band lately called 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER. If you don't know them, I don't blame you but you should definitely, definitely check them out. IT'S A MUST I TELL YOU! A MUST!

At first, I did not really give much thought about them probably because I was into that Imagine Dragons/Paramore mode that I did not notice that these boys would soon ruin my entire life... my music experience I mean.

I blame the television for playing SHE LOOKS SO PERFECT on loop! Like, both music channels I scan towards, they'd play the song like, every minute! Freakin' life was dominated by "SHE LOOKS SO PERFECT STANDING THERE IN MY AMERICAN APPAREL UNDERWEAR..." The rest folks is not history but would require the help of some fangirls, the 5SOS fam and adorable KEEKS and Instagram videos and photos that soon made me drop my guard and fall for these wonderful guys!

I will share with you my favorite 5SOS songs... And yes, She Looks So Perfect is part of it.

1. She Looks So Perfect

This is the cause of  many sleepless nights where I just had to go to Youtube, play the video and just rock out in 1 AM while the whole neighborhood was trying to get a night's rest. This is also the reason why I am incredibly obsessed with these boys right now! Yes, I have been done a great injustice coz of this.

2. Try Hard

One of my favorite songs to be honest. Even if I was drawn in by She Looks So Perfect, this one has the most plays on my iPad right now. Probably because of the "She's into drummers" line... Yeah, gets me every time. Anyway, I just love the sequencing of this music video and how adorable these boys are here! So proud coz it's been around for 1 year!!! WOOOHOO!! #1YearofTryHard #BandWeirdness

3. Wherever You Are

This song always gets its way to me whenever I play it, coz Luke and Calum's vocals are superb and it's dedicated to the fans, so I couldn't be happier! It's such a sweet, sing-me-a-lullaby song. It's simply perfect.

4. Don't Stop

5SOS is funny.. Like the boys with all their keeks and stuff, yeah, ROFL. And the Don't Stop music video proves to show that the boys are just an insanely hilarious bunch. I need me some superheroes like these. Yes Calum, girls do love the combo of green and yellow. And yes Michael, you are the leader.. Okay?

The song is an awesome song to play while going on a trip or just plainly rocking out! Yes, this song is also on loop.

5. Heartbreak Girl

Now, now. I know that I was clearly late with the hype but Heartbreak Girl was indeed the first song I've heard from the boys, but as I've said, I was in a mode back then, so I really didn't care. But with the obsession that came with liking their all their songs, I have to finally admit that this became one of my faves. Let us petition for Ashton to wear his glasses again. THANK YOU!

And so, I leave you with my favorite 5SOS songs. But they are all wonderful! I can't wait to purchase the album! WOOOO!

I'd like to thank the 5SOS fam for graciously accepting me in the fandom! I am honored! It is one of my greatest pleasures as a music lover to talk music with people who understand. I know that my obsession had not come long before their start and I wish that it was, but it doesn't change the fact that I do love their music and the band and that I will be dedicated to them, till my bones break and my heart stops. I love you Luke, Calum, Michael and Ashton. You have made my playlist livelier! Please do visit the Philippines soon!!! Much love to you all! And of course, congratulations to all the success! May you stumble upon this sometime.
