November Playlist: TOP 5

This month of November, I decided to try out making playlists on Spotify and hopefully you listen to some of the song that I chose. Actually, I was going to feature Taylor Swift's 1989 album, but since it's been stripped off from either Youtube and Spotify, I went with some of the songs that I have also been listening to frequently this month!

1. Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde

Again, from last month's playlist, I want to feature it again. This song is the headliner for the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay (Part 1) which will be premiering worldwide in a few days! The song really does speak of Katniss' resolve to fight for the people and go against Snow and The Capitol. This, I think, is one of Lorde's most powerful and endearing lyrics yet because it tells the story as it is and kudos to her music video too for being so wonderfully quirky and dark.

2. Cool Kids by Echosmith

I'm kind of late to the party on this one because the song has been making waves throughout radios and interwebs. And dude, the music video is amazing! Though the lyrics are sort of contradictory to my belief, coz misfit here, I think that the song is kind of telling more of an otherwise story, being that if you are COOL as maybe yourself and you are unique, so you are cool. Yeah, it's kind of ironic really, but I still love the song. And please, the Sierota siblings are an epic, beautiful bunch!

3. Heart Out by The 1975

Have I never told you I love The 1975? Well, I do and I am addicted to their self titled album especially with this song which has been playing on stations and charts. I just love the lyrics in this song, with like a desperate cry to the girl you love yet can't exactly say anything, how raw and subtle it could get but also powerful in some of the rifts. And Matt's voice is just so sexy.

4. Voodoo Doll by 5 Seconds of Summer

You all know I loooove these boys and would practically support them in whatever they do. Anyway, this song is a current favorite, which has been out for sometime now, in their EPs and stuff, but I've only been invested to this song ever since the album came out. The playful lyrics and the cute voices that are somehow dragged into a situation of helplessly falling in love with a girl they don't exactly like. But seriously, I just can't help but laugh to this track.

5. Afire Love by Ed Sheeran

I don't know. I just don't know how Ed Sheeran does it. I mean, not only are the lyrics to this song heartbreaking but will course through your body, making you regret those small things you've never done with people in your life and all they can do is reminisce those moments of the past... This is one of Ed Sheeran's best songs from X and I do not regret playing and playing it again, but at the same time, it does scare me for what may happen in the future.

So tell me, what have you been listening to lately??? Leave comments below and share your playlist with me!

October Playlist: TOP 5

Hi there Misfit Booknerds! I wouldn't say it was a busy September, but as you may have noticed, I didn't exactly post a playlist for that month and I won't make an excuse. I just wasn't in the mood. Or I was just in a faraway corner of the universe. But anyway. Am making this October playlist for the ones I have heard during September and the tunes I am currently been obsessed with.

1. Yellow Flicker Beat by Lorde

This song speaks wonders and elegance to me. This is the first song to be released out of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack. News of Lorde being head honcho of the songs to be featured in the album was music to my ears and now hearing one of the sons from it, and hers too, was to die for! This is Lorde's best lyrically written songs yet, though may not have the same crowd appeal as Royals or Team. But this song has a special place in my heart since it talks a lot about Katniss' resolve to fight against The Capitol! I seriously can't wait for the film!

2. Shake It Off by Taylor Swift

You may not know this, being that am such an alternative, indie, rock soul-ish kind of girl, that I'd listen to pop! I do! I listen to Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rihanna or whoever, as long as it is good, I'd listen to it and since Taylor has made the shift into pop recently with her new single Shake It Off, it wasn't so bad for me to listen to it. I've always liked Taylor Swift. Not so hard as the Swifties do, but I like her and her music very much at least to appreciate the lyrics. And though her style right now is changing, you can still tell from the lyric value of this new single that Taylor is still Taylor. The only thing better to this is the beat and how you can't stop playing it in your head, no matter how hard you try!

3. All About That Bass by Meghan Trainor

This song is so cute and fun that whenever it plays on, I couldn't help but dance along or belt out a note. The music video is actually really cute and Meghan is too! What's good about this song is that it promotes women who have plus size figures or are curvy and that it is not bad to have some curves going on in your body! It is a song that empowers even young girls to not worry about their size and that being skinny isn't exactly a problem, but that it shouldn't be the standard. I raise mah flag to this song!

4. I Sold My Bed, But Not My Stereo by Capitol Cities

What I like about this song is that it gives an old school vibe both with the lyrics and the literal sense in the music video. I really love the beat to the song. Though some people may think that it sounds mostly like what they've given, Capitol Cities actually gives a lot of range, especially in terms of their music's personality. And who doesn't love that title!? It's genius!

5. Best Friend by Foster The People

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! When I missed Neon Trees, I missed Foster The People just the same! I missed the psychedelics of this band and how engaging their beats and lyrics are to me! Some people might be weirded out by their songs, but nu-uh, not me. Best Friend is like an hommage to Don't Stop or Helena Beat, which are my favorites, and allows us to listen to a Foster The People that is the same as always! And the message of the song is pretty spot on!

That's it for my playlist! Tell me in the comments if you love this playlist or you have any recommendations on what I should listen to next!

May Playlist: TOP 3

1.) Problem by Ariana Grande featuring Iggy Azalea
As you may already know from my previous Music Pods, I have featured Ariana Grande’s album Yours Truly which includes wonderful tracks such as Baby I, Right There and of course, Almost Is Never Enough. And she’s back, kicking again with her new single, PROBLEM which is quite the problem maker because it is number one on the iTunes Charts for a while now.

Ariana’s voice is serene, even when the song feels very hip-hop-ish. It’s fun, upbeat, and sassy even, coz of Iggy Azalea’s rap which brings on the added spice to Ariana’s powerful and high pitched vocal. I’m pretty sure you won’t have a problem listening to Ariana’s new single, yes?

Listen to the song here:

2.) All of Me by John Legend

This song has been playing on my head and my house for a month now and I think that I have influenced my Dad to listen to some John Legend. This beautifully written song incorporates passion, love and dedication to your one true love; the willingness to give everything to that person without conditions or costs. John Legend has another wonderful ballad that has stayed on the charts for quite a while now. It is a song worthy of making your head spin with its dizzyingly beautiful melody and rhythm. It’s just perfect. Guys, I suggest you play this to your soulmate, and you are good to go.

3. Sing by Ed Sheeran feat. Pharrell Williams

I’ve never done a feature on Ed Sheeran, but he is one of my ultimate favorites and I adore his album “+” which I have played constantly for over a year now. Sing is one of his newest single from his sophomore album "x"  features an upbeat vocal reminiscent of his song You Don’t Need Me, I Don’t Need You. He’s like every other musician with a guitar, but he has that charm with those lyrics of his that gets girls everywhere swooned by them everytime. It’s no wonder that Ed has had millions of his song sold worldwide, and this new single proves one of his greatest songs, yet again. Everyone will sing their heart out with this.

ALL #TFIOSMovie, Well For Now That Is

This isn't much of a sneak peek anymore, isn't it? The purpose of this has been diminished to the purpose of just posting it, but I can't help it. I'm a fangirl!  Now I know basically all of you has seen everything of The Fault In Our Stars as it is set yo hit theaters this June but I would still love to bring you as much feels possible.

AND YES JOHN, YOU ARE THE GREATEST!!!

The Trailer:
You probably ain't human if you didn't cry at least one tear for the trailer. What I love about is is how true to the book the producers and the writers, Scott Neustader and Michael H. Weber, had made it. Though we may end up with a few differences from the book of course, I still believe that from the trailer, the movie will be as promising as the book.

MUSIC POD: February Playlist, TOP 5

This post includes my current favorites for the month of February, but it could also change in the course of time. This may also include old songs that I feel like listening to during the month... Let's get started...

1. WHAT YOU WANTED by OneRepublic (SONG)

So, as you all know, I did an album feature of OneRepublic last month, but I seriously love them and would love to feature WHAT YOU WANTED because it's a song that's going to be feature in one of the most anticipated movie adaptations of the year, The Fault In Our Stars.
The song features wonderful lyrics, something you'd always expect with OneRepublic songs. What I loved about it is the intensity of the drums and the play on the synth piano, if I got that right. You can never really go wrong with OneRepublic! <3

Listen to the song here: Take some time to read the comments and see how many book nerds have actually listened to this clip. HAHAHA! Credits to Mohammad Maaz's SoundCloud

MUSIC POD: January Playlist, TOP 5

WELCOME TO MY MUSIC POD PAGE!!! HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR (though it's been days since that).

This post includes my current favorites for the month of January, but it could also change in the course of time. This may also include old songs that I feel like listening to during the month... Let's get started...

1. NATIVE by OneRepublic (ALBUM)

Mix gospel music, country and most likely, every kind of genre and make an amazing record out of it, you have to be kind of crazy but OneRepublic seems to have pulled it off with their album NATIVE which features songs of living life to the fullest, regrets that you have to forget and the things that we are all taking for granted. Ryan Tedder and his team truly made a wham of an album and I suggest you hear all their songs.  I honestly love I Lived and Something I Need which I have to make my friends listen to.

Here are clips of the songs to listen to so you have an idea about the other tracks:

2. UNCONDITIONALLY by KATY PERRY (SONG)

Guys, if a girl starts singing you this song, even if she's tone deaf, then appreciate her because the lyrics of this Katy Perry song is wicked mad!!! If she sings this to you, she understands you and feels you and loves you for who you are.
Katy Perry brings about a stunning vocal in this song, UNCONDITIONALLY and allows its listener to understand that love is something that you give out with no exchanges whatsover and that to truly love, you must be able to open up your heart.

The music video is a must watch coz Katy Perry is soooo stunning and fantasy-esque regal!!! :')

Listen to a clip from the song here:

3. DEAD SEA by THE LUMINEERS (SONG)

I fell in love with this song, literally after hearing it once. NOTE: Whenever listening to the songs, appreciate the lyrics, coz there's always value in them. This song, DEAD SEA, offers its listeners the feeling of uplifting and the value of trust among people in relationships, may it be friendship or love.

MUSIC POD: December Playlist, TOP 10

Here's my first post for my MUSIC POD page! This post includes my current favorites for the month of December, but it could also change in the course of time. This may also include old songs that I feel like listening to during the month... Let's get started...

TOP 10:

1. PURE HEROINE by Lorde (ALBUM)

Now, if you don't know who Lorde is, then I'm completely sorry for you. She's a girl from New Zealand who writes her own music and was discovered after releasing her EP The Love Club. From then on, her career exploded. Her first single out of her debut album, PURE HEROINE, "Royals", topped the BillBoard 100 Alternative, making her the 2nd woman to take the top spot in the alternative charts after 17 years. At the age of 16, Lorde has definitely a lot to show and prove and her album does not disappoint.

Tracks:
1. Tennis Court
2. 400 Lux
3. Royals
4. Ribs
5. Buzzcut Season
6. Team
7. Glory and Gore
8. Still Sane
9. White Teeth Teens

The songs included in the album are not your typical high school girl who just felt like writing about a break up or a certain achievement. The album boasts of dark tunes and melodies that introduce the ideas of death as well as pain. Of course, it is typical to have songs about teenagers since Lorde is one but she puts twists in it, making an ordinary idea seem so much more complex. An example is "White Teeth Teens" which basically just talks about good looking individuals but actually talks about vampires (this is my opinion on it... Yours?)
"Glory and Gore" is a much darker take on a song for Lorde but that's what's so amazing of what she can do. There will be people who would not appreciate Lorde's music especially in this age of dance music but with the success of Royals, I don't think that Lorde will fail in this industry. As long as she works hard for it, I don't see any reason for her to lose to any big guns.

Here's her biggest hit out of PURE HEROINE: ROYALS:

2. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Original Movie Soundtrack by Various Artists (ALBUM)

Fans of The Hunger Games series delved into the world of Catching Fire as it premiered worldwide on November 21/22, 2013 in all cinemas. I love movie soundtracks. I really do. It allows you to hear so many new artists that you've never heard of or at least tried to listen to more of their songs. While watching Catching Fire, I was also attentive enough to listen to a bit of music playing in the background, maybe get an idea of what exactly was playing or what I would be hearing from the soundtrack. I only had the chance to hear "We Remain" by Christina Aguilera and "Atlas" by Coldplay, so getting to hear the soundtrack was something I looked forward to after watching the movie. OH YEAH, the movie was on FIIIIAAAAAHHH! HAHA!

Well, the songs in the album did not disappoint. I loved every single one of them! "We Remain" was an instant favorite and "Gale Song" by The Lumineers, though I did not entirely approved of the title, once heard, I cried over it. It's that good! And "Shooting Arrows at The Sky" by Santigold is my jam! I love this album so much!!!

Here are five songs from the album for you to listen to. Download your own copy now on iTunes.

3. Story Of My Life by One Direction (SONG)

I already have the Midnight Memories album of One Direction. It's actually pretty good. But there's just this one song that speaks to me every time. I dunno. I'm not a guy though to be so emphatic with the situation of the guy in the story. But I guess in a way, the idea of being able to keep something got to me. Plus the music video helped.

I like the lyrics to the song. It reminds you of Gotta Be You from their album Up All Night though a lot more mature. The song also caters all the voices of the boys. I actually find it a problem sometime in their boy band that at most times, only Zayn, Harry and Liam would sing like CRAZY! HEEELLLLOOOO! Niall and Louis are there too! And they have good voices to boot. So it's great that I actually got to hear more of them in the song and also the album!

Anyway, yeah. It talks to me, really, like in my sleep and that's why I keep on playing it. It hurts but it's a feel good song.

Here's the song. Credits to beatricef for this clip...

4. Yours Truly by Ariana Grande (ALBUM)

I saw a baby grow so fast! Ariana Grande may be older of a few months from me, but because of her character as Cat Valentine in Victorious and Sam and Cat, I just couldn't grasp how fast she's becoming a superstar. Her debut album, YOURS TRULY made hits on the BillBoard 100 and on iTunes. He first single in the album, "The Way" featuring Mac Miller, garnered her 1 million copies sold, making it a platinum record.

The thing about Yours Truly is that you couldn't actually tell if it's actually Ariana Grande. What I mean is that her voice could actually be that serious. Coz she always plays this crazy little Cat Valentine with the high pitched voice on TV that it's hard to imagine her singing about heartbreak or love. But she makes it all work. And I love her for that.

The whole albums sings of love and fun which depicts Ariana's character and personality so perfectly. I actually listen to this album on repeat sometimes just to savor each song. And the "whistle" register to her voice is something to be envious about! Like a young Mariah Carey in the making only much sweeter and cuter...HAHA!

My favorites from the album would have to be "Honeymoon Avenue", "Daydreaming", "Almost is Never Enough" and "Popular Song" featuring MIKA. But I guarantee that every song in this album is worth your headphones stuck to your ears all day just listening to the miracle of Ariana's voice.
